The First Felinoid Incursion (the T'Garans)

The first of the four major "Felinoid Incursions", as they were known, took place in the late 02220s, when a fleet of T'Garan warships swept through the nearby region of the Galaxy where the rising prospects of Terra were starting to take hold.  In a series of ferocious battles, Terran ships fighting alongside Promedian and Kentauran vessels were able to rebuff the onslaught and force the Felinoids back into the depths of galactic space.  At this point, little was known about these xenoaliens who had a basic felinoid form and temperament, but also possessed impressive technology.  Following a second confrontation with the T'Garan fleet, the newly-formed VanGuard followed them to their base of operations and completely wiped out the entire flotilla around 02230.

Major efforts were undertaken by Terran engineers in order to convert existing UECON and Solar Navy vessels for combat against the powerful T'Garans.  The willingness of Terra to come to the aid of other planets in this time of great need for the known worlds set the stage for the later InterStellar Federacy.

The T'Garans were ferocious fighters, perhaps even more so than the Krayrath that Terra had faced nearly 40 years before.  Over time, they would become allies with Terra, but only after much blood was spilt between the two races.
