The Great Galactic War of the 02260s

During the Qajari-Laythian War of the 02260s, Terra learned just how powerful some of the races that prowled the great depths of space had become over the eons.  Drawn into the conflict because of continuing attacks on UECON colonies, Terra ultimately sided with the Qajari and the VanGuard and the HomeGuard became involved in fighting a series of delaying actions to impede the progress of the Laythians.

The enigmatic Qajari Brix were a constant, but distant presence in the known worlds during much of the 02240s and 02250s.  When their eternal conflict with the Laythians escalated to all-out war in the early 02260s the Terrans were drawn into the conflict and gained experience fighting with and against two of the Galaxy's most ancient races.

The dreaded Laythian Destroyers would rear their ugly mandibles during the mid-02200s, leaving behind destruction and death on a scale unimagined by Terrans despite their experiences in the Krayrath and Felinoid conflicts.
The Cronans began to once again become a problem for the known worlds, working with and against each of the major combatants (the Qajari and Laythians) to advance their own cause.  They would also present something of a thorn in the side of the InterStellar Federacy during the 02260s before their empire was overthrown by the revolt of their Zarlack slaves.

Cronan warships seemingly everywhere throughout the 02250s and 02260s, not only attacking and occupying worlds of their neighboring races, but occasionally intruding on Terran territories as well.

Following the end of that conflict, the Terrans became aware of a greater galactic authority known as the Galactic Assembly, headed by the Qajari and controlling roughly 2/3rds of the territory in humanity's galaxy.  This was a bit of a startling wake up call, but eventually led to UECON being incorporated into the regional InterStellar Federacy answering to the far-off Assembly.
UECON ships worked side-by-side with their Solar Navy brethren during the heady days of the Terran Alliance and into the era of the InterStellar Federacy.  Shown here is an Atlas class superdreadnought, two Aries class destroyers, and three Helios class strike corvettes.

The ships of the Galactic Assembly were very ancient and extremely powerful.  Few races, other than the established species such as the Promedians, Qajari and Laythians, stood much chance standing up to one of these ships in combat, which possessed X-drives for traversing great distances across the Galaxy in a fraction of the time it would take less advanced powers such as the Terrans.
