The Universe of Astral Empires

Astral Empires is many things. It is first an original universe defined by many of the same themes and ideas that have made science fiction a diverse and popular genre in both fiction and gaming. It is also a game system, utilizing multiple game engines in order to bring the Astral Empires setting to life. It is a shared world open to anyone who desires to see their own unique visions of the future come to life. And lastly it is an intentional homage to the science fiction genre and the incredible power of the imagination.

The Colonial League of AD 10,000 was a burgeoning power when the war with the Axis came.

  • In contrast to many science fiction universes which cover a specific time period, ASTRAL EMPIRES takes place over many millennia of future history, beginning with the near future AD 02050: TECH-NOIR era and culminating with AD 50,000: GALACTIC ASCENSION.

Whenever the Silicate races were encountered, conflict would almost always follow.
  • Astral Empires operates on the assumption that other science fiction settings are realities within the context of the backstory (similar to the vast array of Wold-Newton crossover fiction: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wold_Newton_family) which means elements of virtually any existing story universe can be incorporated into the Astral Empires realm.

Because of the commonality of certain general themes in general science fiction (ie. starships, blasters, aliens, cosmic horror, empires and federations, etc.) there are also many similarities and there's no reason for a reader or gamer to discount the idea that Astral Empires may even represent a possible future of Traveller or indeed any other science fiction property you may be a fan of. In fact, that is one of the purposes and design goals of Astral Empires. It is meant to incorporate generalized elements of other science fiction universes into its backstory for the purpose of "feeling like" it could be the future (or past) of other favorite media properties. To that end, various "easter eggs" have been built into the fabric of the universe and the stories set herein, as the author is first and foremost a science fiction fan and has tried to share his love of the genre by placing elements throughout his writing that echo aspects of other fictional settings. As far as finding those "easter eggs"... Good hunting!

So... head out among the stars and bring your imagination with you. You're starting a fantastic journey into the "history of the future".

  1. I've been reading your posts- it's beautiful. I absolutely love the art, and the "space age" feel without getting mucked up on politics.

It reminds me of Starlancer, in a way.
